How much does tree removal cost?

Most residential tree removals land between $500 and $2,500. Height, proximity to the house, and access drive nearly all of it.

Small tree (<30 ft)

$300 – $800

Medium (30–60 ft)

$800 – $1,800

Large (60 ft+)

$1,800 – $5,000

Stump grinding

$100 – $400

What drives the price

A tree that can be felled in one piece into an open yard is a fraction of the cost of one that must be climbed and lowered in sections over a roof or power line.

Emergency and storm work costs more. Hauling debris off-site is often a separate line item.

Insurance is non-negotiable

Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers' comp, sent directly from the carrier. An uninsured crew injury on your property can become your liability.

Before you sign

Confirm whether stump grinding, debris haul-away, and grinding depth are included. Check local ordinances — some cities require a permit to remove protected or heritage trees.
